My hair is black and i want to dye it blue with Schwarzkopf Color XXL BUT will i need to lighten my hair first?

I want to dye my fringe blue with Schwarzkopf Live Permanent Color XXL Cosmic Blue. But will i need to lighten my hair first? thanks

I’ve done the exact same thing, except I used Panic Manic which is probaply a bit crappier but still. When I tried it the first time, with black hair, it did absolutely nothing so it was definatly a waste of time. Then I decided to bleach my hair and it turned light bright orange then I bleached it again and finally it was kinda blonde ish.

Here’s how light my hair was:

The bad thing about doing this is though, since your hair’s really light before you dye it, when the blue fades it turns really really really vibrant teal/green/blue. Here’s how mine looked during the fading..:

So yeah, the blue looks great at first but it won’t last very long and will definatly need another dying after fading so much.
