List the Substances in order of decreasing boiling point…Explain?
HCl, CO, Ar, NaCl, KCl, NH3, Quartz and H2
In order of decreasing boiling points. Explain your answers
Quartz- a molecular and covalent solid
NaCl- an ionic solid
KCl- less ionic than above
NH3- strong hydrogen bonding
HCl little hydrogen bonding (note it)
CO- A gas with some dipole moment
Ar- a noble gas
H2- for last two, its their mass which determines vanderwaal’s forces
Magnet cove Arkansas Brookite on single but a double smoky quartz point . Rare!!
